Self Portrait Project
Project Description: I did not go through a lot to create this self-portrait. Basically what I did was put my gamer headset on, put my revenge hoodie on, sat in my office chair, and put my head in my hand. Definitely not the most work for a self-portrait, but I really had no other ideas.

Artist Statement: In my art, I like to capture the things I really love, I wanted to take a portrait in nature because nature is my most loved thing, but I decided to do it in my room to fit in more things that I love than just nature. I am wearing my favorite hoodie, which says revenge across it. This hoodie symbolizes my style, because it is kind of gloomy because thats just how I feel and I like to show it in my clothing. Behind me on the wall is a tin cover for an anime that I really like, I thought I would include that in the piece because I feel like anime is a part of me because I have been watching shows like that since I can remember, and some of them have even made me who I am even though that sounds cringy. Another symbolic thing I included was my headset, I wanted to have it on to show who I am because I spend a lot of my time gaming with my friends and it is definitely a huge chunk of who I am. The last symbolic thing I included were my white walls, the symbolism behind them is that I am bland without all of the things I just talked about, so I was trying to say that I am nothing but a white wall without the things that I love.

Project Description:
Basically what I have done to create what you are seeing is just photoshop some stuff in adobe photoshop. I either replaced things, or added them in. My goal was to make surreal images. Obviously not professional.

Project Reflection:
I chose to create edited images in photoshop for multiple reasons. The first one being that digital art is the only kind of art I am somewhat skilled in, so it would have been a weird choice to choose a different kind of art to work with. The second reason would be that I was in Texas at the time and wanted to take pictures of my trip, and I figured I might as well use those for my project instead of using scenery we see around Durango all the time. I would not really say I learned a lot, I think a better word would be refreshed, because I used to use photoshop constantly but recently I forgot how to use it properly, and this project helped me get back into the groove of it, and made me a lot less rusty. Which will be useful for my senior project because I am designing things in photoshop for a part of it.
